Ryan and I joined our friends Matt and Frankie for an evening lesson at the Detroit Flyhouse. What is the Flyhouse? It’s a circus school!!! How cool is that? They offer private lessons and group classes in aerial silks, aerial hoops and trapeze.
As you can imagine, I flew the air with the greatest of ease…
Ha. Right. More like, I flew through the air with a giant wedgie just before falling and knocking the wind out of my sails. Circus training is no joke. Nevertheless, it was awesome and I cannot wait to try again.
My favorite? I would have to say it was the aerial ring. It’s not easy to get up on but I was able to do it with a bit of assistance. Once you’re up there its not exactly comfy cozy. You have to position the hoop between your cheeks, arch your back and point your toys. So very, very glamourous.
Ryan’s favorite? All of it!!! That man was in his element. Although I think he holds a special place in his heart for the trapeze. Couldn’t you see it? Ryan baby in a sequins, yet masculine, leotard flying way up high under the circus tent.
Frankie had been before with her three year old, Penelope. Jack wants to go now and I can’t wait to take him. Maybe we should plan a private lesson for a big group of kids. Who’s in?
With love from Detroit,
